The collection of information from students on campus by the use of questionnaires, surveys and other collection techniques must have the prior written approval of a professor if conducted in connection with an academic program or the prior written approval of the senior associate dean of students for non-academic or student-initiated surveys. When specific student groups (., residence hall groups) are the focus of such surveys, whether academically or non-academically sponsored, the concurrent approval of the pertinent director or adviser is needed to avoid over-sampling such groups during any given time frame.
